  • Project Manager - Kansas City, MO

    The Project Manager requires five (5) years of project management experience.

    Responsibilities for delivering and providing MEP engineering project management services, including client service, consultant coordination, designer direction, and ability to meet project deadlines on a variety of commercial, retail, restaurant, education, and entertainment projects:

        • Manage MEP design projects for new buildings, or renovations/additions to existing buildings.
        • Demonstrate ability to work with fast paced deadlines while maintaining a positive design experience.
        • Be responsible for the timeliness, completeness, quality and cost of the project from design phase through completion.
        • Anticipate, identify and promptly address issues that impact performance in risk, financials or timing of project delivery.
        • Communicate effectively and provide coordination with all levels of staff and subcontractors as well as with owners and design professionals.
        • Demonstrate high level of competence in computer applications including MS Office, project management software, and accounting software.
        • Provide review and feedback to design team to maintain consistent client standards.
        • Provide construction administration services including attending site meetings.
        • Strong organization, time management, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

    Requirements

        • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Science

    The Mechanical Engineer requires three (3) to eight (8) years of design experience. The objective is to perform more diverse engineering/design functions, utilizing knowledge and abilities in the application of engineering/design procedures, techniques, and criteria. Exercise of judgment is required on details of design and in making selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Limited supervision, continuous improvement and training is provided through co-design.

    The Electrical Designer requires three (3) to eight (8) years of design experience. The objective is to perform more diverse design functions utilizing knowledge, abilities, and application of design procedures, techniques, and criteria. This position is provided moderate design supervision, continuous improvement and training through co-design.

    Responsibilities for designing building electrical systems for prototype and non-prototype projects across multiple industries including commercial, retail, education, restaurant, and entertainment:

        • Assessment of existing or new project conditions the application of this information in the design.
        • Communication with design team members, Project Managers, and clients for coordination of design criteria as well as communication with landlord, outside consultants, and authority-having-jurisdiction regarding code requirements and review comments.
        • Create a moderately difficult riser or one-line diagram.
        • Performs basic photometric calculations using Lite-Pro or Visual software and voltage drop calculations of moderate complexity including series voltage drop.
        • Perform moderately difficult fault current calculations involving multiple points of calculations.
        • Demonstrates a good understanding of series vs. fully rated electrical systems.
        • May play in a mentor role to other personnel through co-design.

    Requirements

        • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Science or equivalent work experience.
        • MEP design knowledge in commercial, retail, restaurant, education, and entertainment projects.
        • Knowledgeable of energy codes including: IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, Title 24, Washington and Oregon energy codes and of building codes.
        • Able to determine fire alarm requirements, etc. from code.
        • General knowledge of typical electrical equipment sizes.

Limited supervision, continuous improvement and training is provided through co-design.

        • Assessment of existing or new project conditions is required and shall be capable of multiple design solutions and applying the information towards design.
        • Communication with design team members, Project Managers, and clients for coordination of design criteria as well as communication with landlord, outside consultants, and authority-having-jurisdiction regarding code requirements and review comments.
        • Create a riser or one-line diagram of any electrical system of any complexity.
        • Perform fault current calculations and voltage drop calculations of any complexity including series voltage drop.
        • High level of understanding series vs. fully rated systems and when to apply.
        • Perform moderately difficult photometric calculations using Lite-Pro or Visual software that would include obstructions, complex ceiling systems, etc.
        • Heavy specification writing and modifying.
        • Able to attend design meetings with owner or client independently.
        • Ability to mentor other design personnel and work independently with no supervision other than co-design.
        • Provide answers to schematic electrical design topics include service size estimates, electrical room requirements, general distribution layouts, etc.
        • May require management of other engineers, designers and CAD technicians.
        • Engineer’s cost estimation capability.
